New Engagement Ring?

Years ago when I committed, I thought my ring was a diamond. At further inspection, I discovered that was not and that my man did not "cheated" at all – he knew nothing better. Basically, just went to buy some rings dirty shelf. (I know they tried, bless his heart). My finger turned green and finally ended corroded. Now we're older, wiser, and have a stable job, I would get a new ring. But my husband does not see what the big deal. He said, "maybe in a few years I will be surprised." I want to be there for the whole process – to keep history from repeating itself. I'm to the point where I'm going to buy my own ring only, but I want it to be special for us. Advice?

If you have an engagement ring is so important to you, go to the store and buy one yourself. Place may be to your advantage though. My sister just ignored the issue (it was not important to her) because she could not afford a ring on all bands and wedding just in time to be married. Her husband surprised her with a diamond 1 carat of their wedding of 4 last spring. Even had the jeweler to take into account that he was a gardener, so do not catch on things. Even better, your DIL has also helped (talking to his stepmother feel great!).
