Can I sell a diamond ring at the store?

My sister gave me a diamond ring she got from her ex-boyfriend, I went to tell my girlfriend, but in Instead, they sell and buy a new one. Can I walk to the store and say I want to sell it? or do I need an animal to me? and I am only 16 years old, I stopped selling it? I can not total cash on me when they buy it? despite their value as 3000 ~ 4000?

(I'll be nice) First, do not see why your sister simply give a ring that was worth much. seems that even if she hated her ex, she has sold herself, not given to her younger brother (I assume you're a guy). so makes me believe that the ring can not be of such value.
