Diamond engagement ring and buying tips?

I was looking for real advice from real people on buying diamonds and engagement rings, not only information published by the diamond dealers. Also, if someone has had a good (or bad) experience with a wholesaler of diamonds I'd like know about your expereince.

1. Start shopping at soon as possible and take your time. 2. Find a retailer that will allow you to observe several rocks along the DI color spectrum. They must be willing to align the white stones in a valley under a halogen lamp so you can see the color differences and decide to what extent Yellow can tolerate. 3. Platinum rings yellow stone will look whiter. So will some fluorescence. White gold is still a slight yellow color and the stone are reflected. 4. The cut of a diamond is all about math. Good math = a gemstone. Retailers should tell more the color and number of inclusion of the stone. If you can not or will not, run, do not walk in the opposite direction.
