What's the skinny on buying a good engagment ring?

Need to buy a ring, does not "know much. What are some jewelers top leading diamond / platinum rings, jewelers as well as midrange and bass. Does anyone know how to get a good deal? Besides Tiffany and Cartier, are there any other reputable jeweler for engagement rings? Roger and Jared is a good place to go? Are there payment plans and if so what are usually like? I can only spend $ 2,500 to $ 5,000 unless a ring from his impressive then I can pay more in mind she's worth it or if through of these responses I have said $ 5,000 is "cheap" (I hope not cheap $ 5000). Look for color, clarity and carat. What I do is get a diamond ring that has the color range of EF. That's pretty colorless. Clarity should not be broken, scratched, or abnormalities. Ct is until you decide. $ 5,000 is not cheap. That is a good price, depending on the carat. If it is about 2 carats, then that's good. You will not go below 2 carats. As for jewelry, Kay, Jared (I think that's how you write), London Gold, Ultra Diamonds (you can get some pretty big ring for prices really low quality and impressive), and you may even want to go to Zales.
