Is it weird to put the jewels on a corpse in a coffin?

My mother-in-law just died and his daughter wants to put her (my mother-in-) the right of jewelers in their dress (earrings, necklace, watch, and diamond wedding ring on it and bury it in the same) what kind of weirds me out. So the general view the thing's body and open casket.
