wedding ring meanings

wedding ring meanings
Hello. I need help finding out any significances to which finger a ring is worn on.?

I recently bought a ring to wear as a wedding band but the ring really seems to have trouble staying on my weddinng finger. So I am wondering what are the various meanings to wearing a ring, or multiple rings, and on which fingers do they mean these things. I am going into Atlanta for a couple conventions in September and had problems previously with being agressively hit on. So I bought a ring to wear on my wedding finger. However as it really doesn’t fit, I will probably keep wearing it on another finger and then find a better wedding band. However just as I don’t like being rediculously pursued I do not want to give out an incorrect signal. PLEASE help. Websites will be very much welcomed.
I probably should clarify, I am mostly concerned with the other nine fingers, just worried about sending out mixed signals.
My thanks go to the all who answer but especially so far to the poster of the 5th answer. It is exactly along the line I am needing to know.

It’s said that the vein in your ring finger goes directly to your heart. That’s why traditionally, wedding bands are worn on that finger.

“The Proper Way to Wear a Wedding Ring:
Is there such a thing as wedding ring etiquette?

Ancient Egyptians and Romans believed that the ring finger of the left hand follows the”vena amoris” or vein of love, which is directly connected, to the heart.

Therefore, many wedding rings were worn on the left ring finger, as it was believed to link a couples’ destiny. Even though Science discredits this theory – many romantics at heart still follow this practice today.

Another theory suggests that during the 17th century, wedding rings were typically worn on the thumb and then moved to the 4th finger of the left hand during the wedding ceremony.

It is believed that during a Christian wedding, a priest presents the ring to the 4th finger after touching three fingers on the left hand and saying, “In the Name of the Father – Son – and Holy Ghost”.
