may be allergic to my wedding ring?

Occasionally a rash under my wedding ring and I have to take the rings and allowed to cure for about few days before putting them back. It's 14K white gold, and her husband said that white gold is not as pure as yellow, and may that some nickel in it. Is this true? Should I change to yellow gold?
