may be allergic to my wedding ring?

No soap or water getting under there, because that's what I thought at first, so when I wash hands off my rings off and dry them thoroughly. My other rings do not. It's 14K white gold, and her husband said that white gold is not as pure as yellow, and may that some nickel in it. Is this true? Should I change to yellow gold?
