Is it legal to require employees to remove wedding rings?

I work in a restaurant and, recently, my boss informed me that all employees with stones in their rings must be taken outside the ring. My wedding ring is sacred to me and I wonder if I can fight this.

Look at it this way: if the rings are so important to you, would you ruin a restaurant job? if the employer has a policy that is health or safety is based on Legally and expected. This is why the prohibition of marriage is fine, it's just anything that has stones that could be lost.
