Allergies affordable alternative metal for jewelry?

In September, my boyfriend mom matching the two chains we wear rings, but seems that an allergy to it. He also had a similar reaction to his white gold ring class. I also have a nickel allergy, but is much less serious than his. I have seen how white gold is made and the only real alternative you can find is platinum, but incredibly expensive. Is there another alternative? Perhaps one that is more in the range of prices for two students sharing a house rental in low-wage part-time? Thank you.

You will have a difficult time find cheaper jewelry that is nickel or a nickel alloy. Gold Gold (not white), platinum, titanium and silver, come to mind, but make sure they do not have any nickel in them, as white gold (which is commonly nickel + gold alloy).
