platinum rings compared with white gold?

I wanted some additional input regarding the differences between platinum and white gold for rings. 1. I heard platinum is a hole "soft" metal and forms easily (unless you have a polished finish), is it true? 2. Also I have been informed of white gold turns colors and requires more maintenance (I'm learning that may be necessary to replat with rhodium from time to time and / or cleaned baking soda from time to time). what has been your experience on this? 3. platinum is susceptible to household chemicals such as white gold? 4. I also read that platinum has a much heavier and stronger than gold. Is that true?

Here's a great article comparing the platinum white gold. Your questions 1,2 and 4 are answered in this article, http://www.wightmangoldsmiths.co.uk/platcomp.htm. When it comes to your third question, on products household chemicals, both are susceptible. It is not really gold or platinum, which is vulnerable, but are alloyed metals.
