Can anyone give me some information on rhodium on white gold?

I have been married 14 months and my white gold rings are really turning yellow. I was not aware that you had to get white gold replat or less each year. When I was at the mall last week, a jeweler told me that $ 40 / each ring, which could replat it. That's $ 120 for my rings and my husband. To me that is a bit too much to maintain ring each year. I think it's pretty standard that has to have it done every year – the jeweler that my husband and I bought our rings included a "guarantee" for the package as an extra $ 100 in the set. We leave on a Friday and pick them up again on Monday next. Try a jewelry store chain instead of an independent jeweler, the price may be cheaper for the re-lining … I know both do Sears and Zales. I'm Kay Jewelers pretty sure that does too.
